When you hear water or lava or monster sounds, keep mining. when you lose the sound, mine different ways. NEVER dig straight down, i had this once, i found a cave straight under me (yay...) and died. Why do you wanna find 'em? it is dangerous, because monsters, lava and drowning, losing the way, so i recommend peacefull. But most times spawners are in caves. PS. i am dutch, and 11, so not great in english

DON'T USE X-RAY. You can get banned from servers. Well walk around usually you can find a cave close to the surface and %60 of the time they go down to lava and which means around diamond level you can also just did a 2x1 hole digging on side while standing on the other so you don't fall into lava if you come across it or fall into a cave filled with monsters. But just walk around a little you'll probably find something ;)
