Probably a dumb question about resource packs

Question

I downloaded a resource pack and used it on multiplayer and realms servers. The textures show on all servers for my view. If I used a texture block from a resource pack in a house or castle, will other people be able to see those textures and colors without downloading the pack as well? Or for say what used to be a wood block would still look the same?

The other players wouldn't be able to see the same textures as you unless they have the same resource pack installed or the server has a default resource pack. The players would see the normal Minecraft textures.
