My pickaxe will not work and i cannot place objects down on the ground

I am a new player playing the unchanged downloaded version. I touched a key or something and now my pickaxe will not work and i cannot place objects down on the ground. How can I get my original settings back? All other worlds seem to work fine. Just having an issue with this one world. Peaceful mode.

I think you changed your controll in the game.

for fix that, go to options -> Controlls -> Reset to Default
