The fact is you cannot make iron. It's a mineral. (and this is minecraft, survival). You must collect it. I'm pretty sure the most you can get is a iron block (thats by makeing it with iron) and the only way you can get it is by mking it (survival) or going into your invetory and finding it (creative)
