Is there a way to see the hunger games countdown timer with chat turned off? Trying to avoid crude chat for my kids.

I would like my kids to play on the Hunger Games server with "chat" off -  there is way too much crude language/subject matter there.  They complain that if "chat" is off, they have no way of knowing when the game starts.  Is there a way to see the starting countdown timer with "chat" off?
