Is there a way to make a automatic slime farm without water because the slime chunk is under the spawn point?

I found 6 slime chunks right touching each other under my spawn and so i digged them out. Then i realised i cant put water near the spawn. I can put water in half the area i dug out but not the rest. Is there any way how to make a automatic slime farm without water or will i have to cut the slime farm in half? If there is a way, how could i change it so i can put water near my spawn? thanks :)
