How can I make a server

I want to learn how to make a Server like the ones on http://minecraft-server-list.com/ but I cant figure it out. PLEASE HELP.

Here is how you can find a guide to setup a Vanilla Server for Minecraft - if you want mods, you can install Bukkit ontop of the Vanilla Server.
