what do you do on th beacon?

well im trying to use the beacon but i dont know how to upgrade it

u place the beacon and underneath it u place a 3x3 of any gem/ingot block (diamond, gold, iron). to upgrade u place a 5x5, 7x7 etc. u choose what u want in the beacon interface then put a diamond or ingot at the bottom and click the tick.
