Did Minecraft ever have a version where a chest wouldn't open if an entity/player was standing on top of it?

Somewhere in 2012 I watched a lot of Minecraft videos but I never subscribed to people because I didn't know about that feature. Now I am on a nostalgic quest to find all video I watched. One of them are a video where a guy plays a gamemode where there are four teams with ~10 people in each team and they fight like in survival games. I can clearly remember them runing on snowy mountains and they run into a house but the youtuber can't open a chest because there is a lot of people standing on it. Only when everyone is gone from the chest he can open it. I saw this in other videos a long time ago but this I remember this video most. This question is very important to me: Did this feature ever exist? I would also be happy if you know what youtuber I talked about.

I don't know about past versions, but I know that at least in 1.8 (and maybe now), a chest won't open if a cat is on it.
