  • How can I fix the 'timed out' error when I play multiplayer?

    +1 vote
I keep getting kicked from every multiplayer server. I can play for about 4-5 minutes, then I 'time out'. There are 2 other desktops in my house besides my own and they experience no problems. Obviously, I think it is my computer although it used to run Minecraft perfectly. I have updated Java, checked firewalls, checked network connections, scanned for adware, spyware, viruses. We have a beefy router, recently bought. Is this a RAM issue? Did my RAM just 'fail' suddenly to cause this? I tried using a USB stick to 'add' RAM as a temporary solution, but I see no change. I have no other internet connection problems. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Try these things:

Uninstall and reinstall Minecraft, don't worry, your worlds will not be deleted!

    Restart your computer.

Try to contact your ISP and ask them to diagnose or replace your modem.

Try connecting to this server in order to check that the servers you are playing on are not the problem:  mc.hypixel.net

    Best of luck!

I am having the same issue except I can probably only play a minute at most. I've uninstalled Minecraft, reinstalled, restarted my computer, updated my computer, got a cable that runs directly to my router, I've changed versions of Minecraft. It's not my internet because this same computer has done it at my mom's house on EPB wifi. I even followed some article about allowing some port through the firewall. Nothing had made any change at all. I've actually stopped playing Minecraft until recently because of the issue and it seems to have went away for no reason and now it's back. I don't want to have to give up on Minecraft but I can't afford a new computer.
