  • FML is setting up your minecraft environment

Yesterday, I was trying to use a mod and I got on Youtube to see how to download and install the mod. I apparently kept doing something wrong because I could get a map to work but not the mod. Even though the mod wouldn`t work, I could still use the map and normal gameplay. When I launched Minecraft today, the game screen blacked out and a pop-up saying, 'FML is setting up your minecraft environment. Please wait, FML has some tasks to do before you can play. Found library file scala_library.jar present and correct in the lib dir' Then it has a loading bar that won`t move from 0%. I think I messed up on either the .jar entries or the Forge download. When I went back to the minecraft.jar, I deleted the DCIM folder (or whatever it`s called) and tried to relaunch Minecraft. It gave me the same pop-up, but this time with another on top of it that said, 'There was a fatal error starting up minecraft and FML. Minecraft cannot launch in its current configuration and telling me to consult the file C:files\Users\(My user)\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\ForgeModLoader-client-0.log. I got to the file but it won`t open because it is a LCK File.

Would I have to get a new minecraft.jar? If so, how?

i fixed the black screen and all by basically: backing up my worlds, deleting minecraft.jar and then the whole .minecraft folder, unintalling minecraft then reinstalling it, force updating it, deleting all the mod zips and all, deleting all theForge Mod Loader files and everything, going to the lib folder and deleting the Meta.inf in it, checking everything for the meta.inf, and rerunning minecraft. it worked for me and whatever problem anyone else is having with the black screen of death should work similarly.
