how can i stop minecraft from freezing?

i start up minecraft, sign in and the mojang logo comes up as usual, but after that the screen goes black and freezes and it keeps doing that. i really need help because its starting to get annoying. thanks

one of your .minecraft folders that was vital to the program was probably deleted. Try looking over your folders and making sure you have the following:

Bin

crash-reports (if Minecraft crashed at least once)

Resources

Saves

screenshots

Stats

texturepacks

texturepacks-mp-cache

Options.txt (notepad)

Your best bet is to alloctae more RAM to the game or by simply restarting and reinstalling the game.
